Test

Prior to all flare tip operations, a detailed operations manual for the work is prepared. The actual time for helicopter flying is only a small part of the work involved in a flare tip repacement project. However, effective flying is dependant on thorough planning from the start. The manual is compiled in cooperation with the client and shall satisfy both the client’s and Vertech’s quality requirements. A description of the operation is given in detail and the manual also includes such as risk analysis, progress schedules and sequence illustrations.Advantages of Using Helicopters for Flare Tip Replacement

1. Minimal on-site equipment needed

No A-frame, no heavy cranes, no scaffolding.
You essentially need only the helicopter and the crew.

2. Dramatically reduced downtime

Helicopter operations are extremely fast.
Many replacements are completed in hours instead of days or weeks.

3. Ideal for remote and challenging locations

Platforms, FPSOs, mountain regions, Arctic areas –
the helicopter reaches places that are otherwise nearly impossible.

4. Lower total cost (in many cases)

Yes, helicopter hours are expensive – but:

  • no heavy transport

  • no large crane rental

  • much less downtime (the real cost driver!)
Overall, it can be significantly more cost-effective.

5. Reduced HSE exposure on the ground

You reduce:

  • work at height

  • heavy manual rigging

  • complex lifting operations involving many people
Helicopter lifts involve fewer personnel in hazardous zones.

6. No structures to install on top of the flare tower

A-frames require assembly and disassembly at height.
Helicopter replacement = no temporary structures.

7. Greater operational flexibility

Helicopters can be mobilized quickly and perform multiple replacements in a short timeframe, even across several sites.

8. Much simpler logistics

You avoid:

  • transporting large modules

  • setting up laydown areas

  • coordinating big crews
    Helicopter = “arrive, lift, done.”

9. Minimal footprint on the facility

Perfect for tight spaces, hazardous zones, or sensitive areas where you want to avoid major interventions.

10. Proven performance

Vertech Offshore is the global leader in helicopter flare tip replacement.
That means:

  • specialized pilots

  • tested procedures

  • top-tier safety
This is not experimental – it’s an established, world-leading service.

11. Less disruption to ongoing operations

Many processes can continue while the lift is carried out.
A-frame jobs often require large exclusion zones and extended preparation.

12. Rapid mobilization for urgent needs

If a flare tip is damaged or compromised, the helicopter team can be mobilized on very short notice.
